Climate Change Reduction Officer
Duration: 12 months,
Two
weeks training in Canada, orientation on the field and 11 months of
field work, with the option to applying for an extension.
Job Summary
- The Climate
Change Reduction Officer will work with the Disaster Risk Reduction
Department to develop and implement programming that strives to
minimize the negative effects of climate change in targeted areas in
Malawi.
- The intern will support advocacy and capacity building
efforts at all levels of government regarding climate change,
- Intern will assist in the development and implementation of
awareness raising activities,
- Inter
will help to strengthen already existing projects which aim to mitigate
and minimize harmful side effects of climate change while encouraging
the adoption of sustainable environmental practices within a Disaster
Risk Reduction framework.
Requirements and Qualifications
- The
successful intern will have prior knowledge of rural development issues
and the role that climate change is contributing to such issues.
- Previous knowledge of DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) is an
asset
- The
intern must possess good research, report and proposal writing skills,
understand RBM formatting and have basic financial management skills in
order to create and monitor project budgets.
- The
intern must have previous experience in skills and knowledge transfer,
and must possess flexibility, a willingness to learn, and an ability to
adapt to changing and sometimes chaotic working situations.
- Candidate must agree with, and be committed to EIC's
mandate and policies.
