Helen & Paul Jones, Country Directors

Being born and raised in Ethiopia, Helen is well-accustomed to the African lifestyle. She is a registered nurse and practiced in Southern California before joining EI Canada. She worked as a Health Coordinator for 2 years with EI Canada before getting married.

Paul was born and raised in Port Perry, Ontario and studied Business Administration and Accounting at the University of Toronto before joining EI in 1981. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Limbe, serving on the international committee. When not working, he enjoys playing squash and golf.

After marrying, Helen and Paul worked various positions in Ethiopia, Sudan and Tanzania before beginning as the Country Directors of Emmanuel International Malawi. They have been serving in Malawi for the past 22 years. They have 2 children who are currently attending university in Canada, but still consider Malawi their home. Together they are leading a team of over 100 dedicated national workers seeking to improve the lives of Malawians through programs aimed at improving food security, agriculture, water access, HIV/AIDS awareness and capacity building with local partners.

Helen and Paul are permanent residents of Malawi and intend on continuing to serve in Malawi for the foreseeable future.
